By creating genuinely affordable, healthy homes in the heart of Plymouth, our community can be part of the solution to tackle fuel poverty and climate change. This organisation is in the preliminary stages of being established.
We want to:
- Use excellent design and clean energy to build affordable homes fit for the future.
- Give local people the chance to choose a comfortable home with low bills and a fair rent; one that supports a sustainable lifestyle, promotes quality health and well-being and importantly, provides a stable, long-term home to be proud of.
- Offer an ethical and innovative management model that allows our community to buy community shares and cooperatively run this business, just like we do with our solar installations. This way, local people can plan, design and determine the outcome, potentially earn a fair return and ensure any profits are re-invested to benefit the whole community.
We want local people to help with the details: design, waste, energy, transport, food, and ownership and bring it together to shape how we make it happen!
In March 2020, PEC Homes became an official entity, and was established as a Community Benefit Society. Members are at the heart of what we do, so if you are interested in becoming a Member, then please read our Membership Policy to below, to find out what it means to be a Member. Community land trusts are set up and run by ordinary people to develop and manage homes as well as other assets. CLTs act as long-term stewards of housing, ensuring that it remains genuinely affordable, based on what people actually earn in their area, not just for now but for every future occupier.
Our vision is for anyone, anywhere to be able to set up and run a Community Land Trust to develop homes and other assets to meet local needs.
The National CLT Network is the official charity supporting Community Land Trusts (CLTs) in England and Wales. We work on behalf of CLTs and, in turn, our members shape and govern our work.
We provide funding, resources, training and advice for CLTs and work with the Government, local authorities, lenders and funders to establish the best conditions for CLTs to grow and flourish. Our aim is to transform the land and housing markets in England and Wales so that CLTs are mainstream, not dependent on short-lived specialist support programmes.
The Network is also part of a broad alliance of organisations promoting and supporting community led housing in England.

We encourage local projects that combat global warming and environmental damage; by supporting community groups to set up, run activities and events, get publicity, and work with others nearby.

While UK farmers are among the best in the world, farming remains one of our country’s most hazardous industries; accounting for 1% of workers but 20% of all worker fatalities (HSE).
20 farm workers and 1 member of the public (a 4 year old child) lost their lives on GB farms in 2019/2020 according to the latest HSE Fatal Injuries in Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing report. Think about it… this means 21 families and communities mourning the loss of a loved one and we need this to stop.
We’re the Farm Safety Foundation, an award-winning charity and we’re dedicated to support the physical and mental wellbeing of the UK’s farmers.

As part of Safer Devon, South Devon and Dartmoor Community Safety Partnership (CSP) works closely with agencies spread throughout South Hams, Teignbridge and West Devon.
We aim to make our communities even safer places to live, work and enjoy by reducing crime and anti-social behaviour. We focus on reducing vulnerability through raising awareness and building confidence in our communities around key community safety issues.
South Devon and Dartmoor CSP meets on a regular basis to set agreed priorities for the partnership, which is done by reviewing intelligence about our area from sources such as the Devon Strategic Assessment.

As part of Safer Devon, the Exeter Community Safety Partnership (CSP) is a multi-agency strategic group created with the sole purpose of ‘making a safer city’.
Exeter CSP comprises a number of member organisations and includes representatives from agencies with a statutory responsibility for community safety, as well as partners from key voluntary and not-for-profit agencies.
Members of the partnership meet on a quarterly basis to discuss emerging community issues and strategies that aim to reduce the levels of crime and anti-social behaviour in local neighbourhoods and reduce the fear of such activities across the district.
The responsibilities of the partnership are divided into a number of operational groups that each look at a specific community issue. Examples include groups investigating anti-social behaviour, domestic and sexual violence and abuse, the night time economy, street attachment and hate crime.
