The Hotel itself is ideally situated to explore Ilfracombe. The Tunnels Beaches within 1 minute walk away and the Landmark Theatre and seafront just a short 5 minute walk. The heritage Harbour & Quay are all on a level walk from the Hotel and it's from here that you can catch the boat to Lundy or take a pleasure cruise along North Devons rugged but spectacular coastline. If you feel that you wish to sit and take in the views around the harbour there are many pubs and restaurants where you can sit and watch the world go by. The busy town centre is a short distance away where you will find a busy farmers market and lots of independent high street retailers offering lots of variety.
The Hotel has been owned by the Cox Family for over 46 years. Initially four victorian terraced houses; it was turned into a hotel in 1850. Photographs placed around the hotel show how it was before and after it was turned into a hotel. When the Cox family took it over, they invested a lot of time and money turning it into the hotel it is today, with 53 en suite bedrooms, a ballroom, dining rooom, bar lounge, and a small games room. All areas of the Hotel are personally run by a member of the family to ensure your stay is a pleasant one.

Lundy lies off the coast of North Devon, where the Atlantic ocean meets the Bristol Channel with nothing between it and America, a granite outcrop, three miles long and half a mile wide. In the hubbub of the modern world it is a place apart, peaceful and unspoiled.
Lundy is owned by the National Trust and managed by the Landmark Trust. The two charities have worked together since 1969 to restore and protect all that is cherished and special about Lundy. Every day visit and every overnight stay helps to secure the future of the island and its landscape, buildings and wildlife.
