Rainshare was established by Dr Sarah Ward from the University of Exeter who is encouraging people to share the rainwater from their roofs.
Do you have a roof? Yes? Then when rainfall hits it you generate runoff.
Do you use your runoff? Yes? Good. No? Then it normally runs into a sewer. Do you know how much a sewer costs to expand or build new? No? Well it’s expensive!
If we can keep runoff out of sewers then it means they will spill less dirty water into rivers & they may last longer too.
RainSharers share the runoff from their roofs so that its entry into sewers is slowed. It also means they save drinking water by using a quality of water that’s more appropriate than highly treated drinking water for a lot of practices (flushing toilets, watering gardens or allotments, washing-down driveways and so on).

Transition Exeter is proud to have been linked to the Exeter Growers Co-Operative for its 7-year history. The Exeter Growers Co-Operative rents 4 acres of organic productive land on the South Western edge of Exeter, near Shillingford.
The Co-Operative strives to promote understanding, enjoyment and sustainable use of the land, especially through organic food production. All production is to Soil Association Organic Standards.
The field is an inspiring place – there’s a young orchard, a Devon hedge, a willow-bed, ‘the shed’, two poly tunnels and plenty of space for organically growing vegetables and soft fruit.

The idea for 10-mile-dinners arose in a conversation between members of Transition Exeter. We were attending so many meetings that we weren’t having time for a social life. We wanted to get social activists together, but needed an event that was both enjoyable and that facilitated the discussions we needed to have about living more sustainably.
We all love cooking and socialising around food so came up with a simple model:
Choose a group of people that you want to spend time with, who you think will be interested in a particular topic (our first one was centred around people with an interest in sustainable healthcare).
Agree a date and invite everyone to bring some food or drink (liaise a bit to ensure that people don’t all bring the same thing).
The general idea is that everything brought should be sourced as locally and sustainably as possible, but there are many different levels at which this can work.
However people contribute, you end up with a lovely shared meal, an opportunity to talk about things that matter to you all and a little bit more awareness of what we take for granted and how we can shop and eat more consciously.

Jews have lived and worshipped in Exeter for over 250 years. The synagogue, which was built in 1763, is small, beautiful and, happily, still used regularly for services. It has been carefully restored by successive generations, the last time being in 2013 to mark the start of our 250th anniversary year.

What you’ll find when you visit RAMM. Displays showcase the world-class collections and collectors that have helped RAMM to become one of Britain’s finest regional museums.
They tell the story of Exeter and Devon from the prehistoric to the present but RAMM is more than a local museum. Its internationally-important world cultures and natural sciences collections also tell a story of global exploration and collecting in the 18th and 19th centuries.
As well as its diverse and significant collections, RAMM’s lively programme of exhibitions, activities and events ensures that it is the most visited attraction in Exeter and one of the most visited museums in the South West.

Fridays for Future Exeter is a group of teenagers (and beyond) united under a common goal: to bring the climate crisis into public conversation in order to pressure institutions to act now so that our futures - and those already experiencing the impacts - are protected. We have grown from a handful of kids in January with a crazy plan to shout at Devon County Council, to a loud-mouthed organisation with around 20 active members, demanding that local establishments (mostly the councils) treat the crisis appropriately (ie. put into place our 14 page long Green New Deal for Devon). Inspired by Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg (and the dire actions of our government), we have held some form of public event almost every month since February 2019, ranging from small assemblies to general strikes ~5,000 strong as part of an international strike.

We have a dream To create a vibrant and successful City Farm here in Exeter.
To provide a thriving community hub, a place of recreation, education and therapy for the local community. We want to give local people the opportunity to learn about animals, food, nature and the environment and to create a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together, learn and thrive.
We want to provide a wide range of services, facilities, workshops, activities and events for the whole community, from children, families, young people and schools to adults, older people and those with learning difficulties & disabilities or physical disabilities.
We are currently looking for a suitable site within the city so that we can bring our plans to life. Our website is regularly updated with news and information, so please do visit us again!

Exeter City Council has declared a climate emergency.
Like Exeter, many other cities and towns are aiming to be carbon neutral; but few have set out clear and deliverable plans to show how that will be reached.
The City Council has asked Exeter City Futures to work in partnership with the city to create a clear delivery roadmap.
This will set out the scale of the challenge, and the likely actions and investment required to ensure that Exeter is, and is in a position to remain, carbon neutral by 2030.
