Devon Moth Group was formed in 1997 and its main aim is to encourage the study, recording and conservation of moths in Devon. The Group is a membership organisation open to anyone interested in moths. Members receive regular newsletters and an Annual Report and are welcome to join in Group activities, which include:
- A programme of Field Meetings during the year, which provide a great opportunity to visit different sites, see a great variety of moths and meet fellow enthusiasts.
- Indoor meetings during the winter with guest speakers
- Recording moths from garden traps and out and about in Devon (the Group has obtained permissions to record moths using light traps on various pieces of land throughout Devon).
- Special projects focussed on particular moths, e.g. threatened species.
- Collation of moth records by the County Moth Recorder into the county database to improve knowledge and support conservation.

The Pebblebed Heaths Conservation Trust was established by Clinton Devon Estates in 2006. Its creation was in response to increasing national and European recognition that lowland heathlands are a habitat rich in wildlife, are highly threatened, and require professional management to maximise their wildlife value.
The Conservation Trust has management responsibility for the East Devon Pebblebed Heaths and the Otter Estuary.

Devon Wildlife Trust The Conservation Communities project is working in 11 parishes between Great Torrington and Hatherleigh to record as much about the natural environment as we can. Plenty of exciting species can no doubt be found in this area, but we know little about what and where they are, and how they’re doing. This project will work with communities to share skills and gain confidence in identifying what is in the local area and how to protect it.
The 11 parishes covered by the project: Great Torrington, Little Torrington, Merton, Huish, Meeth, St. Giles in the Wood, Beaford, Dolton, Dowland, Iddesleigh, Hatherleigh.

DBRC This project builds on many years of landscape-scale work in North Devon by both of our organisations, including the development of biodiversity audits by DBRC for numerous parishes within the NIA project. In October 2019 we secured funding through the New Heritage Lottery Fund, to work in 11 of those parishes, supporting local residents and community groups to get involved in a range of biodiversity led initiatives, which will greatly improve our collective understanding of the species and habitats there. Residents will be able to attend a range of training workshops, walks and talks, and alongside local experts, individuals and volunteer groups will be supported in a range of nature-based activities. These include setting up long term monitoring of indicator species, such as otters and dormice, sharing knowledge on nature-friendly verge management, pond creation and improving access to nature for local residents.

The National Trust was founded on 12 January 1895 by Octavia Hill, Sir Robert Hunter and Hardwicke Rawnsley. Over the last 125 years we’ve grown to become Europe’s largest conservation charity, caring for historic properties and areas of beautiful countryside for everyone, for ever.
We are a large charity with a clear purpose to protect Britain's glorious buildings, landscapes and coastlines. Our governance arrangements reflect these and are designed to support and challenge our staff.

Advancing knowledge, transforming lives.
We will be a broad-based, research-intensive university, open to all who can benefit from a University of Plymouth education, and delivering excellent interdisciplinary research, experiential education and civic engagement.
We want to maintain and build upon our pre-eminence internationally for contributions to the sustainability of marine and maritime environments and societies. The marine environment is integral to the well-being of life on Earth. Covering 70% of the Earth’s surface, the marine environment is home to 95% of the Earth’s species. Humans are dependent on the oceans more than ever before – for food, oxygen, water, mineral, sustainable energy. Yet vast areas remain unexplored. Mega cities of the world are on coasts, capitalising on economic and trade benefits but impacting on, and vulnerable to, marine environments and climate change impacts.

Green Minds aims to put nature at the heart of our decision making and inspire a new wave of citywide investment in nature based solutions.
This means fundamentally challenging our existing attitudes and behaviours towards nature: how we think about it; how we engage with it; how we work with it.
Aims
Over the next 3 years, Green Minds will test a broader, systems approach to delivering nature-based solutions in Plymouth (2020-2023). From the learning we will develop a kitbag of resources, tools and evidence for sharing more widely.
Working in partnership Green Minds will
- Inspire people to connect with nature through delivering rewilding and nature-based projects on the ground that increase habitats and species diversity
- Experiment with different delivery and management approaches that support community stewardship and green enterprise, creating ‘green mindsets’
- Use science and creative digital tools to make nature visible and exciting
- Evaluate our impact and communicate what we learn in innovative and creative ways

Enabling those from VME and areas of deprivation to access nature and the outdoors as it is essential for physical activity and health, mental well-being, enjoyment of our beautiful planet and to ensure our cities become sustainable;
Ensuring that the children and volunteers who attend our camps learn about nature conservation and environmental issues through our discussions;
Discussing how our camp being vegetarian benefits the planet, why litter is bad for the environment and wildlife and why we are aiming to make our camps zero waste.

It's time for change
By building connections between people and across disciplines, we have a huge opportunity to find new ways to solve our current economic, health, climate and nature crisis.
With your help, we are generating radical ideas and practical actions, and working to transform our country and our world.
To bring together unusual combinations of voices in order to devise a range of practical actions that can have significant impact on our climate, nature, health and economy.
Working with all the key pieces of the system - from farmers to activists, businesses to government, academics to practitioners and many others - we aim to encourage debate and catalyse change.
We believe that by exploring a range of often disconnected issues and understanding how they connect, we will together solve some of the most intractable problems of our time.
We work with partners and communities across the UK to make:
- Healthy food everybody’s business, levelling the playing field for a fair food system
- Farming a force for change, with a transition plan for agroecology by 2030, and the resources to back that plan
- The countryside work for everyone, with a framework for sustainable land use and nature restoration, with flourishing rural economies and thriving communities where people can afford to live and work.
