For more than 10 years I worked in Hartland Pottery learning my craft under Clive Pearson. After a 9 year break to bring up the family, I opened the No. 39 Pottery in the centre of the village of Hartland. Using stoneware clay I'm producing a range of decorated domestic ware, experimenting with form and function using coloured slips and simple sgraffito designs inspired by the surrounding environment of this beautiful part Devon.
In November 2012 I won the craft section of the Back Room Creatives competition in the Journal 2.
In December 2019 I relocated to the Calf Street pottery at 37 Fore Street. It took us four long years to build ourselves this new pottery and house but we finally moved into the house in July 2020.

Tea by the Taw was opened and is run by two local 'born and bred' ladies who had a dream!
Sandra Wiggins and Lesley James started their catering careers by studying at North Devon College (Petroc) in 1978. They met at the Barnstaple Rugby Football Club volunteering whilst their sons played rugby.
In 2014 they began a new venture with Tea by the Taw, a vintage styled tearoom. They started serving cream teas, traditional Vintage High teas, lunches and a selection of homemade cakes. All ingredients used are locally sourced as much as possible which helps maintain local sustainability and boosts the local economy.
Sandra and Lesley's tearoom won the best cafe award in the food, drink and tourism awards in 2016.
The tearoom is in Barnstaple North Devon sitting alongside the beautiful view of the river Taw.

Welcome to TORRINGTON CYCLE HIRE which is situated beside the old Railway Station at the foot of the hill to the famous Cavalier town of Great Torrington in North Devon.
This safe, traffic free trail is popular with experienced cyclists and families alike. It runs along the disused railway line which has the benefit of being relatively flat with only small uphill and downhill gradients.
The railway line at Torrington stopped providing passenger services in 1965, though it continued carrying goods until closure in 1982.
The trail runs alongside the River Torridge which inspired Henry Williamson to write Tarka the Otter. As you travel through this beautiful area of North Devon you may spot Deer, Rabbits, Squirrels, Otters, Kingfishers, Salmon and many other species of birds, wildlife and flowers.

Antonia Alexander, bespoke dressmaking, costumier and alterations.
My identity as a designer is driven by the pleasure of fancy dress and nostalgia.
Locally I was always involved in carnivals and Mayfair. I have made costumes for the Mayfair procession three times and have been the youngest dressmaker to ever take on the responsibility. I love working with community groups like the Cavaliers and Torrington Players because growing up in a small town with a close knit community has given me a huge sense of identity which I am very thankful for.
I would describe my designs as very theatrical, playful and humorous.
I have a particular passion for up-cycling and reworking clothing. I believe it is so important to utilise an items lifespan to avoid textile landfill and reduce global warming.
