Warren Point is located in the north west of Plymouth adjacent to the River Tamar. The site consists of a semi-circular route bordering an industrial site and boasts breathtaking views of the Tamar Estuary. The site covers 4.4 hectares and is owned and managed by us and is accessible to the public. A variety of habitats are present including woodlands, grassland and small areas of saltmarsh.
The site is designated as a County Wildlife Site because of the 18 ancient woodland vascular plant indicators recorded in the woodland and the 12 Devon notable plant species recorded in the area of saltmarsh.
Species include: Sea aster, Sea purslane, Sea couch grass, English scurvy grass, Saltmarsh rush, Common saltmarsh grass, Glasswort, Greater sea spurrey, Annual seablite, Orpine, Lesser sea spurrey, Red goosefoot

A wooded valley opening up to the moors of Dartmoor with a rich and varied industrious past
Plans are underway towards creating a healthy, beautiful, natural environment for wildlife and people, whilst also preserving this woodland for ever.
Plymbridge is a young woodland which was planted 110 years ago. It is made up of compartments of trees of a single species. This is perfect if you are trying to grow trees as a crop for production of timber but not ideal for nature. So our plan is to reinstate the healthy, beautiful, natural woodland that would have been here before the planting.

A Devon Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve
Discover tranquillity with a gentle circular path through woodland, alongside a stream and an orchard. Climb Stoke Hill for wilder walks through wildflower meadows and tree-studded parkland, to enjoy the views across the city to the Exe Estuary.
About the reserve
Mincinglake Valley Park is one of six Exeter Valley Parks managed by Devon Wildlife Trust.
The park provides easy access for visitors by car. It is a wonderful location for manageable and pleasant stream side and wooded walks, meadows and parkland. Part of the Valley Park was created from a former waste tip, capped in the 1970s! It also caters for those who enjoy some hillier walks too, with long views towards the estuary.
Did you know, Mincinglake comes from the old English words for ‘Nun’s lake’ a reference to the ‘Greater Polsloe Pond’, a lake created when the St. Katherines Priory nuns dammed the stream in the 12th century?

Paths and boardwalks allow you to get among the reed beds and ponds of this wetland reserve.
About the reserve
We probably could have come up with a better name for this often over-looked nature reserve! But the 'Old Sludge Beds' does at least hint at the history behind the place.
