Leigham Wood is located in the east of Plymouth just north of the Marsh Mills Retail Park. The five hectares site is owned and managed by the Woodland Trust and is accessible to the public. This site consists predominantly of broadleaved woodland.
The site is designated as a County Wildlife Site because part of the area is registered on the ancient woodland inventory, supporting more-or-less semi-natural woodland. 20 ancient woodland indicator species have been identified within the ground flora.
Species include: Barren strawberry, Wild cherry, Field-rose, Crab apple, Hairy wood-rush

Mount Wise is located in Devonport, overlooking the Hamoaze with fantastic views over to the Royal William Yard and Mount Edgcumbe. The 2.1 hectares site is owned and managed by us and is accessible to the public.
The site is designated as a County Wildlife Site because of the presence of limestone grassland and records of six Devon notable plant species.
Species include: Round leaved crane's-bill, Autumn ladies tresses, Knotted hedge parsley, Ivy broomrape, Cowslip, Hoary plantain
A part of the site is also designated as a Geological Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Plym Estuary is located in the east of Plymouth with the A374 Embankment Road running along its western side. The site covers 114.9 hectares and consists of Saltram Saltmarsh, Crabtree Reclaim and the Plym Estuary area above the Laira Bridge.
Saltram saltmarsh is owned and managed by the National Trust and is accessible to the public. A variety of habitats are present including saltmarsh, grassland and woodland.
The site is designated as a County Wildlife Site because several Devon notable plant species have been found at the site.
Species include: Brookweed, Glasswort, Sea aster, Wild celery, Lesser sea-spurrey
The site is also designated because of the wintering bird interest.

Pomphlett Plantation is located in the south east of Plymouth on the edge of Plymstock, north of the A379. The site covers two hectares and is privately owned and managed isn't accessible to the public. The site is designated as a County Wildlife Site because of the well structured semi-natural broader leaved woodlands and canopy including species such as bluebell and primrose.

Radford Lake is located in the south east of Plymouth next to Hooe Lake and Radford Park. The site covers 2.5 hectares and is owned and managed by us and is accessible to the public.
The site is designated as a County Wildlife Site because of its mudflats and open water with 0.5 per cent of the British wintering population of common sandpiper and little grebe as well as seven Devon notable plant species.

Radford Quarry is located in the south east of Plymouth next to Radford Lake. The site covers 5.22 hectares and is privately owned and managed isn't accessible to the public. A variety of habitats are present including grassland, low scrubs, wet flushes and cliff habitats. The site contains a rich diversity of limestone plants and wildlife, with a number of nationally rare and nationally scare species having been recorded.
The site was designated a County Wildlife Site because of its limestone habitats.
Species include: Dwarf mouse-ear (nationally scarce), Pyramidal orchid, Lesser centaury, Round-leaved crane's-bill, Pale flax, Ivy broomrape
Invertebrate records include the nationally scarce centipede Henia vesuviana and butterflies such as the locally scarce brown argus Aricia agestis. The site also supports a healthy badger population and has good potential for supporting a range of bat species, with greater horseshoe bats found in recent years.

Southway Wood is located in the north of Plymouth just of the A386 Tavistock Road. The 57.5 hectares site is owned and managed by the Cann Estate and is accessible to the public by a public footpath which runs through the site.
The site is an area of broadleaved woodland in a 'Y' shaped configuration with steep slopes on both sides of two streams.
The site is designated as a County Wildlife Site because of the presence of 24 ancient woodland indicator species.
Species include: Yellow pimpernel, Sanicle
Some of the area is also designated as ancient semi-natural woodland.

The site is located within the roadside grass verge on the eastbound carriageway of the A38 Plymouth Parkway, near St Budeaux. The site is owned and managed by the Highways England and isn't accessible to the public.
The site supports a population of Deptford Pink, a small flowering plant. There are records from the site dating back to 2005 with records from the last few years reaching as many as 450 flowering plants.
Deptford Pink is classified as a priority species in the UK Biodiversity Action Plan and as Endangered in Britain on the Red Data List. It's protected in the UK under Schedule 8 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981 (as amended).
