We begin with a desire to strengthen connections, increase opportunities and nurture working relationships within our working wool community in the South West of England.
Blessed here in South Devon with an abundance of quality local fleece and a history steeped deep in the woollen industry we began our work and our vision was ignited to provide a social hub, a platform for sales of local fleece and woollen goods and a place for the sharing and passing on of valuable techniques and skills in all wool crafts.
Our first gathering was held in the Ancient Woollen of Buckfastleigh in March 2016 and from there our community has flourished and grown into a twice annual event for the Town held at the Town Hall and now also the Primary School on Bossell Road.
The Buckfastleigh Wool Gathering hosts a vast array of skilled workshop leaders and artisans who offer drop in workshops, live demonstrations, talks and opportunities to get involved in further projects and workshops through out the day and in the future. It is a place for participation, learning, bringing along your own woolly projects to work on alongside other makers, making contacts for your businesses and picking up bags of wonderful local fleece direct from the farmers.

It is the Recording Group's intention to build up a complete catalogue of Dawlish Warren’s biodiversity. If there is anything you would like to see on the site, or you would like to submit any data, photographs or media [all of which will be credited to the author] please email us.
The Recording Group monitors species found anywhere on the sandspit east of the railway; from the rocky shore of Langstone Rock in the south to the entrance off Cockwood harbour 2.6 km (1.6mls) to the north. The boundary then runs north of Bull Hill sandbar before heading south down the middle of the Exe Channel, past Warren Point and east of Pole Sands. Records out to sea are accepted at any distance from “straight out and northward” from Langstone Rock and anywhere off the spit west of the Exe Channel. Additionally, birds at sea seen from Exmouth at least 300m out are also included; birds watched from the spit, which are flying over the mainland are excluded. The significantly different habitat of the outer car park at the base of the spit is considered outside the modern recording area.
The Recording Area covers some 210 ha (505 acres) but terrestrial habitats only occupy c.35% of this. The spit, from Langstone Rock is 2.5 km (1.5mls) long and roughly 0.8 km (0.5mls) wide.

MAKE Southwest (formerly Devon Guild of Craftsmen) is a contemporary craft centre with galleries and shop in Bovey Tracey, Devon, UK. We are now open from 11-5 Wednesday Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. Our café and toilets are closed for now. (10/11/2021)
Located in Bovey Tracey on the edge of Dartmoor, our large gallery and shop offer a great venue with inspiring exhibitions and events, encouraging people to support, make and learn about contemporary craft.
The Devon Guild of Craftsmen was founded in 1955 by a small group of makers, led by Edward Baly, who were enthusiastic about the idea of promoting the best in regional craftwork. From 1956, and for the next 30 years, annual exhibitions at venues throughout South Devon were enthusiastically received.
In 1986 the Guild took the massive step of purchasing Riverside Mill. The building now houses a shop and 3 exhibition galleries, which stage over 20 exhibitions throughout the year!

And that’s ride2cop26 finished.
- 570 miles
- Loads of punctures
- Lots of weird snack combinations
- So much fun
- Some very gritty moments
- Lots of rain
- And most of all, so many incredible people who took part in the cargo relay or just joined for the ride for a few miles.
The greatest Thankyou to all the people who were involved.
Onwards to @cop26uk and then turning this adventure into a film (where we aim to share all the amazing stories of the climate crisis and collective action, we have heard along the way)
