PFPS brings together a single page for the local campaign's ambassadors and pioneers and will keep everyone up to date on progress towards a Plastic Free Plymouth Sound and, hopefully, accreditation as the UK's first Plastic Free Coastline City.

Please help Torbay achieve "plastic free coastline" status by picking up litter off the beaches, saying no to single use plastics and raising awareness.

The more we delve into the subject of Plastic pollution the more shocking it gets, with new stats, images, and videos coming out everyday. It was for this reason we felt we had to do more. By taking on the Atlantic row, we have a unique platform to inspire action for the cause, as well as provide vital funding for SAS Ocean schools. We want the Row for the Ocean campaign to leave a legacy, involving as many communities as possible and make a tangible difference in our home city of Exeter. That’s why we’re aiming to make Exeter one of the first plastic-free cities in the U.K.
So what does this mean, would Exeter really be plastic free? Well in a word, no, as much as plastic can be harmful to the environment, it can also be extremely useful- for example in an MRI machine that for obvious reasons couldn’t use metal and needs something robust. It’s estimated that 50% of plastic is used only once and then thrown away. This ‘single-use’ plastic is what we want to target by reducing the use of plastic coffee cups, utensils, takeaway containers, toothbrushes, straws and plastic bottles to name a few.

We’re a community dedicated to the protection of oceans, waves, beaches and wildlife. We fight long and hard to protect what we love and we won’t stop until it’s completely clean, safe and protected for everyone, forever.
From humble beginnings in Porthtowan Village Hall in 1990, we’ve stayed close to our roots and continue to be based just up the road at our St Agnes HQ where we can keep an eye on the sea.
Just 20 of us work in the office full time, but it’s really thanks to people like you who support our work through membership donations, volunteering, signing petitions, buying from our shop and spreading the word that allows our impact to be widely felt.

Surfers Against Sewerage have started a Plastic Free Coastlines campaign which hopes to reduce the amount of plastics entering the marine environment. To achieve this the project aims to work with communities to help reduce single use plastic (SUP) use.
The campaign will;
- work with the council to pass a motion in favour of supporting a reduction in plastic use
- work with businesses to encourage alternative options to items such as straws and disposable cups
- organise river cleans (working with Ivybridge Environmental Action Group)
- work with community groups such as schools/colleges etc to help educate and inform on the impacts of plastics

Please join the fight against Single Use Plastics as part of the Surfers against Sewage Plastic Free campaign for a Plastic Free Tavistock.
As part of this campaign everyone needs to look at their single use plastics and try and find 3 items that they can exchange for a plastic free alternative or do without.
This page is also here to share ideas on how we all can reduce our single use plastics and find ways in which we can reduce our plastic consumption.
Remember Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

At the Ilfracombe Town Council meeting on 12th February 2018 (and following subsequent approval on 12th March 2018) the Town Council nominated Cllr Steve Trebble as the lead for a Plastic Free Ilfracombe campaign whilst allocating Town Council resources to manage, promote and deliver the project.
Work has already begun using the Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Coastlines Community Toolkit as a basis to not only achieve Plastic Free Coastline certification for the town but, to fully establish Plastic Free Ilfracombe as a nationwide community leader in responding to one of the biggest global threats of our age.
We can not achieve our Plastic Free ambitions without YOUR help!
In partnership with Plastic Free North Devon we will both be updating our Facebook pages with information updates, events, ideas, initiatives and local business champions but, remember to let us know YOUR ideas, comments and suggestions so together..........
We can make a difference!
