Surfers Against Sewerage have started a Plastic Free Coastlines campaign which hopes to reduce the amount of plastics entering the marine environment. To achieve this the project aims to work with communities to help reduce single use plastic (SUP) use.

The campaign will;

  • work with the council to pass a motion in favour of supporting a reduction in plastic use
  • work with businesses to encourage alternative options to items such as straws and disposable cups
  • organise river cleans (working with Ivybridge Environmental Action Group)
  • work with community groups such as schools/colleges etc to help educate and inform on the impacts of plastics
