Countryside Mobility Just fifteen minutes from Exeter, this 3,500 acre woodland site offers a variety of trails that can be experienced on a Tramper.

  • Path surfaces - well-surfaced and woodland paths
  • Path gradients - mostly level, or gentle gradients
  • Some safety barriers to go around, a few narrow sections

Haldon Forest Park is open every day, except Christmas Day.

Tramper Hire - Temporary Arrangements for Current Context

Trampers are available 10.00am-4.00pm Monday to Friday for existing Countryside Mobility members (it is hoped that it will be possible to hire to first time users in the future .

Hire charges have been discounted (usually £2.50 per hour) to make hire simpler for you. Prices are per Tramper:

Up to 3 hours - £5

Up to 6 hours - £10

Pre-booking is essential so that the team at Haldon can send out your induction information and prepare your Tramper(s). Payment must be made at the time of booking. This is non-refundable but, if you need to reschedule for any reason, we will transfer your booking fee at no extra cost.

The Ranger’s Office is closed and the Ridge café is currently takeaway only (card/contactless payments only). For the latest information on facilities visit this link.

Much of Haldon Forest is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and after exploring you can enjoy refreshments at the well-rated Ridge Cafe, open 7 days a week. e map below:

Cycling and mountain biking Whether you’ve just bought your first bike, or you’re happy shredding through rock gardens, Haldon Forest Park offers fantastic natural cycling. Practise your technique in the skills area and find your flow on the pump loop, then choose from graded trails that wind through the forest.

Haven’t brought your bike? Our on-site cycle hire specialists are here to help with mountain bikes for all ages, electrically-assisted bikes, tag-a-longs and child seats, recumbent cycles, and trikes. All cycle hire is heavily discounted for over 55s.
