If you are a new walker, please arrive 10 minutes before the start time to complete a simple registration form.
All walks are free, all you need are comfortable shoes, loose fitting clothing and waterproofs if wet. And do bring some money if you wish to stop for refreshments afterwards.
Walking is the lowest risk of all physical activities, yet produces massive benefits to physical fitness and mental wellbeing. It is a great way to explore your local area, make new friends and learn more about your immediate community.
Active Devon and Teignbridge District Council are continuing to develop Walking For Health, so that more people in Devon can enjoy being part of a local health walk group.
The Teignbridge Walk This Way Scheme is one of the largest in the county covering coastal resorts, market towns, villages & moorland. Our Volunteer Walk Leaders offer a variety of walk grades from a flat Grade 1 short walk up to the more demanding, ‘off-road’ terrain Grade 3. Some of our walk groups offer more than one Grade walk each week, and some have a range of meeting points, making your walking experience in our natural environment as diverse as possible.
During your walk you will meet walkers with different fitness levels making walking ideal for returning to exercise after illness or getting into activity for the first time. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. You may wish to join several walks to progress your activity levels. All of our volunteer leaders have a wealth of local history knowledge to share and a thorough appreciation of the flora & fauna on our doorstep.
If you enjoy doing all of the above and would like to become part of the team that makes Walk This Way such a success we provide you with training and on-going support. Your help is valued even if you can only commit to once a month perhaps, or by being a ‘back-marker’ in the group to support the walk leaders.
