Lower Town Place in the centre of the village was for sale. HOLD is a Community Benefit Society with Charitable status that has now bought the site so it can be redeveloped for community uses
The old Lower Town Place farmyard has lain derelict for several years and recently was the subject of a very unpopular planning application for EIGHT houses, quite similar to the ones on our side of Copplestone.
The owner has now agreed to discuss the future of the site with HOLD and the agents have indicated that all the developers who are interested would wish to amend the planning application anyway.
This gives the residents of Lapford an unique opportunity to work together to acquire all or part of the site for a new, up-to-date Community Hall in the heart of the village, with improved facilities for all sorts of activities and to to include a new Youth Club provision.
