The Younghayes Centre, situated in Younghayes Road – adjacent to the Medical Centre and opposite St Martin’s Primary School – is a busy hub at the heart of the community. Built in 2012, its main hall is in use throughout the week by a wide variety of community, youth and sports groups, whilst at weekends it is the venue for private parties and other events. Also housed within the building are tenanted business offices, including the office of Cranbrook Town Council.
The Younghayes Centre transferred ownership to the Town Council in November 2019. Cranbrook Town Council manages the building, facilitating room bookings and coordinating usage of the building.

Welcome to The Wave. We are a community of people, seeking to share the life changing message of Jesus with the people of Littleham. Within Littleham there is an amazing estate which is diverse and rich in heritage, it has not always had the best reputation, but God loves the estate and the people in it and so do we.
The Wave is a Pioneer Baptist Church plant, What does that mean?
Well, it means that (like many Churches) We believe that God has called us to share the message of Jesus, and the message of salvation, with those who don’t know Him. However, it is pioneer, because it does not look like conventional Church. Our focus is not about a Sunday morning service, instead it is about meeting with people where they are, building community, sharing about Jesus and faith in informal settings, seeking to be mission focussed living as followers of Jesus 24/7.

The Pebblebed Heaths Conservation Trust was established by Clinton Devon Estates in 2006. Its creation was in response to increasing national and European recognition that lowland heathlands are a habitat rich in wildlife, are highly threatened, and require professional management to maximise their wildlife value.
The Conservation Trust has management responsibility for the East Devon Pebblebed Heaths and the Otter Estuary.

Jane and Mary Parminter were non-conformists belonging to the Glenorchy Independent (Congregational) Church in Exmouth. However, they found that bad weather, especially in the wintertime, often prevented them from making the journey to church. One story says that they did not wish their coachman to work on the Sabbath and they therefore decided to build their own chapel in a field adjacent to their home. At the same time they decided to create a small resident community for needy women and the idea of the almshouses was born. The tiny chapel and its surrounding almshouses was built in 1811 and licensed for worship in 1812 by the Bishop of Exeter. At that time special dispensation had to be granted for public worship for “His Majesty’s Protestant subjects dissenting from the Church of England”.
A manse was built in 1829 as a residence for the Chaplain and is still now occupied by the current Chaplain who also acts as Warden for the almshouses. Services are still held in the Chapel but now only once a week at 11.00am every Sunday. There is a small regular congregation, with a background from several denominations, including some of the residents, although the requirement to attend worship is no longer applied! Although the Chapel remains independent, there is a strong association with the United Reformed Church and especially with Glenorchy URC in Exmouth, where some of the Trustees are members.
