Our farm, in the beautiful seaside village of Branscombe in East Devon, UK, is run as a nature reserve, where no artificial fertilisers or pesticides are used. The Red Devon cattle and sheep graze the flower-rich meadows where rare butterflies and other wildlife have a chance to thrive. We avoid the routine use of animal medicines, and animal welfare is of course of prime importance to us. We grow vegetables, specialising in a wide variety of salad crops, without any artificial nasties! We keep free-range chickens for their wonderful eggs, and have also started to grow flowers this year, specialising in the more 'natural' and native kinds that both look wonderful in a bouquet and appeal to the bees.

The community farm is a small holding owned by the National Trust and run as a social enterprise, Industrial Provident Society formed in 2011 (for the benefit of the community) by member volunteers and non member volunteers. It has 32 acres of high grade level land with 3 agricultural buildings for tool storage, meetings and livestock feed. It shares a boundary with Clyst Vale Community College and is situated 1 mile from Cranbrook and 2 miles from the edge of Exeter.
Members and volunteers at the farm come from a wide range of special interest and backgrounds and we learn and socialise together while working to grow food and improve the natural environment on the farm

In My Back Yard is a friendly network of independent, small-scale food producers, wholefood suppliers and residents working together to build a more resilient, nourishing and community-centred food system for the local area.
Customers can order fresh, natural and delicious food direct from the producers via a convenient online platform. A phone buddy system will help those who aren’t online. Goods will be delivered to a collection point or direct to homes or businesses.
In My Back Yard was recently awarded a development grant from the Devon Locality Budget. In My Back Yard’s founding producer members are Bulstone Springs Farm, Natural Branscombe, Elbow Farm, Browings & Comhar, Natural Worx, Fillfull, Artemis Bees and Vinnicombes Bakery, Norsworthy Dairy Goats, along with non-producer worker member, Emma. We also wouldn’t be able to operate without many, many wonderful volunteers – thank you all!
By working together, we support local producers with fairer prices, reduce food miles and overheads, revitalise the local economy and increase resilience to shocks in global markets.

The Open Food Network allows farmers to sell produce online, at a price that works for them. It has been build specifically for selling food so it can handle tricky measures or stock levels that only food has - a dozen eggs, a bunch of parsley, and a whole chicken that varies in weight, anyone?
It's a great storefront to sell food through as an individual enterprise, but where it really gets exciting is when there's a community of farmers working together.

For the last 25 years Curworthy Cheese has been made at Stockbeare Farm situated in the mid Devon countryside under the shadow of Dartmoor. A perfect area for grass growing with its unique climate of rain and humidity.
The milk is sourced from local dairy farmers in the area - delivered overnight and pasteurised the next morning to make this award winning cheese. Curworthy is a full fat hard cheese with a creamy light buttery taste when young and developing into a full flavoured mellowness when aged. The curd after pressing overnight in traditional presses is then matured in special temperature controlled ripening rooms. No colouring or preservatives whatsoever are added - except salt which enhances the flavour and lengthens the cheese's life.
