From towering granite tors to breathtaking rivers, Devon's is an ancient landscape that has drawn and inspired our ancestors. The ancient idea of pilgrimage is as much about the personal inner journey as the destination. Devon Pilgrim follows this living tradition.
We invite you to walk these pilgrim routes, some ancient, some new, which connect tors, stone crosses, holy wells and tiny churches, standing stones and cathedral.
Re-root yourself in Devon's landscape and the spiritual traditions which run like a thread through it. Whatever your journey, we invite you to wander with us.

The centre will be set up in the middle of Totnes town, to inspire, educate & enable the community to respond effectively, intelligently & creatively to climate & ecological breakdown at a local level. We will enable individuals, families, groups, businesses, organisations & councils to make more sustainable choices, reduce their carbon footprints, protect & reconnect to nature, & to live in more regenerative & caring ways.
At the same time, we are helping our community to become more resilient, prepared for & able to adapt to the changes that are occurring now & will continue in the coming years.

Everywhere and under our noses, some plants seem common to us and yet, like us, they are in fact extraordinary, humble, powerful and resilient. Our focus is perennial; trees, dyes and herbs. Perennial vegetables are grown to say ‘thanks’ to our wonderful volunteers.
All the trees are planted now on this small, highly productive speck of space in south Devon. Half of the 2 hectares is a border of 1, 700 of 11 mixed species. Within this we have an orchard of locally sourced fruit trees and community growing spaces for herbs and dye plants.
All the species are useful to us and will be harvested for their edible, medicinal, veterinary, pigmentation and horticultural properties. We are still in the process of becoming, growing and market testing products.
Our work with people most adversely affected by the pandemic is starting. Qualified therapists and play workers have joined us. We have started to deliver sessions for a local charity works to enrich the lives of neuro diverse young people.

Responding to the needs of British woodlands, and the communities around them. That is the focus of our not-for-profit, based in the South of England.
One day, a human named Al was consumed by the sheer wonder of trees and disenchanted by the state of small British woodlands. He decided to start a woodland apprenticeship programme. In hindsight, this was probably not the best decision as he had no facilities, no direct experience of running an apprenticeship or any money.
The first thing he did was board a tiny boat (it was actually a plane) and sailed away to learn from those who were doing exactly the work he aspired to. With the help of WCMT he met with his heroes and sheroes, wonderful folk at Windhorse Farm, Healing Harvest, Coed Nant Gain, Northern Forest Centre. People who were doing the hard work of making small woodlands work in the 21st century.
Together they plotted to find a way to start a ‘treenaiscance’ in his home of Dartington, South Devon. Some wonderful souls decided to help this process and in October 2016 The Woodland Presents was officially born as a community interest company. This elite band of nemophilists (tree lovers) began the process of carrying out their mission to:
Enrich and expand woodlands
Help people fall in love with woods
Make things with British timber
Teach others how to do these things
So here we are, doing this work, however most of the time we don’t know exactly what we are doing until we are doing it.

A LOCAL CLOTHING PRACTICE
Mend Assembly is a unique blend of grassroots maker space, local production, sustainability expertise, innovation and good old fashioned clothing services.
WE BELIEVE
That when clothing becomes aligned with local practice so many of the problematic elements of the global commercial model fall away. From reduced carbon and transport to deeper connection, respect and care for the clothes that we own and wear.
We are fascinated by how fashion and the way clothing is made and worn is informed by any given locality, especially in this current time.
We believe it is one of the options that will support global solutions and is directly linked to the wider movement for regeneration. We believe in preserving and honouring indigenous and native practice wherever that maybe. We do not seek to hyper-commercialise, dominate or appropriate, rather we encourage a wearer led approach to ‘fashion’.
